NTM Celebrates 45th Anniversary with Open House

On November 3, 2021, NTM Inc. celebrated the 45th anniversary of its founding by hosting an open house and plant tour for customers, suppliers, local businesses, elected officials and employees’ families. Visitors enjoyed light refreshments while they toured the plant and learned about NTM’s operations and capabilities.

“We’re happy so many of our customers, suppliers and other friends were able to join us in celebrating this milestone in our history. It’s really fun to show visitors the non restricted areas of our plant so they can see where our employees use their expertise to craft our products,” says Owner and Operator Barb Dorumsgaard. “We always strive to be a good neighbor, and it was great to see so many of our neighboring businesses at our open house.”

Here’s what some of our guests had to say at NTM’s open house event:

“I’ve been mayor for 21 years and I can say unequivocally that NTM is a good neighbor and city ‘resident.’ We have a very good commercial/industrial tax base in Fridley, and NTM provides good jobs for our residents and others. We’re very happy NTM is here.”
Fridley Mayor Scott Lund

“Accuneering is a neighbor of NTM’s and we’ve been a customer for five years. Our favorite products are Stubby® Boring Bars, Magnetic V-Blocks, and occasionally custom tools. They’re all very solid, top-notch products. NTM’s staff is very personable, knowledgeable and willing to listen and provide feedback, so I get what I think I need.
Mike Kadlec, Accuneering

“Techmet is an NTM supplier, and we’ve worked with them for over six years. The best thing about working with NTM is that they plan ahead. They know what they need and when they need it, so we don’t have rush orders from them. They do a very good job.”
Rodney Raethke, Techmet

“We’ve worked with NTM for more than 20 years as a customer and supplier. We use NTM’s grinding service for things we can’t do ourselves, and vice versa. We have a friendly competition. The best thing about NTM is they really know what they’re doing. They take care of us really well, and we’ve had a relationship with their rep for more than 20 years. We’re also delivering products (to the open house) from our plant in Hutchinson, Minn. today to save shipping time.”
Jim and Mary Beth Schaufler, Salient, Inc.

“We just started working with NTM in 2021 as their safety supplier, and we love working with them. Their openness and commitment to safety is excellent. Operators and Owners Cindy (Blue) and Barb (Dorumsgaard) are great to work with. They trust us to see with fresh eyes any potential safety concerns they might have overlooked. They want to do the right thing for their employees, and they learned good values from their dad, NTM Founder Bob Thielen.”
Tim Sheehan, OECS

“I’ve worked with NTM through Anoka Technical College’s Professional and Workforce Training Program for six years. NTM recognizes the need for workforce development and uses it as a retention tool. They also recognize that there’s a group of folks who don’t get into advanced manufacturing in a 1-, 2-, or 3-year program. NTM develops people. They also take advantage of the Dual Training Pipeline grant program through Anoka Tech that provides funding for their employees to get training two days a week in order to receive their certification.”
John Olson, Anoka Technical College

“Barb (Dorumsgaard) offers a service to her employees who are sore or in pain, as part of their health and wellness program. We bring in a therapist to work with NTM employees to help them feel better. Barb also provides periodic healthy lunches for employees to maintain or improve their health and recognize their hard work.”
Tyler Lowthian, iWorks Health

“I’ve worked with NTM as a vendor since 1989. The best thing about NTM is that they’re toolmakers – concise, precise professionals. Our Haas mills are the most popular thing NTM purchases from us.”
Steve McCloskey, Productivity

“We’ve been customers of NTM for 20 years, buying Stubby® Boring Bars. They’re NTM’s best products. We also buy form tools from NTM.”
Jack LaBrose and Mark Solberg, M&L Industries
